Is CBD Oil Legal in Michigan? [May 2018 Update]
Up until early May, Hemp-derived CBD oil was freely available in Michigan without the need of a medical marijuana card or prescription. However, as of May 11th, Cannabidiol (CBD) now falls under the definition of “marihuana” according to the Michigan Public Health Code (Act 368 of 1978).
LARA (licensing and regulatory affairs) of Michigan put out this advisory notice on May 11th, 2018.
The possession, purchase, or sale of marihuana or any marihuana product – including CBD – must be done in compliance with the MMMA and MMFLA.
MMMA: Michigan Medical Marihuana Act
MMFLA: Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act
If you’re looking to legally obtain hemp CBD, or anything else that falls under the state’s definition of marijuana in Michigan, you’ll need a medical marijuana card.
